Euro 7 starts in November: what component exporters should know

The EU Euro 7 regulation applies to new types of cars and vans from 29 November 2026, with heavy-duty vehicles following in 2028.

The EU Euro 7 emissions regulation (Regulation (EU) 2024/1257) is now in force. New types of cars and vans must comply from 29 November 2026, and all newly registered vehicles from 29 November 2027. For trucks and buses, new types must comply from 29 May 2028 and all new vehicles from 29 May 2029.

Key changes

  • Brake particles and tyre abrasion are regulated for the first time, not just tailpipe emissions;
  • Durability requirements for emission-control systems are extended to longer mileage and age;
  • Minimum battery durability requirements are introduced for electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles.

What it means for hoses

Longer durability requirements mean vehicle makers will expect more from intake, charge-air, crankcase ventilation and cooling lines over their service life — aging resistance, hot oil-mist resistance and impulse fatigue performance become even more important. Suppliers targeting Europe benefit from getting material selection and durability testing right early.
